Kirk,

Got mine at Fiberglass Hawaii. Are they still in Santa Cruz or just in Ventura now?

Get the Pleskunas - it’s the real deal…

Pete

your buddy the pickler is making them at his factory now. sells them at wholesale.

you can borrow mine for awhile.

the pickler! ha! thanks tommy. i’ll call him.

kirk

I call this my “forty dollar piece o’ plastic”. Damned handy though. It taught me how to keep my outlines “true” and makes marking fins easier.

“The Pickler”…that’s funny!

Who has the Pleskunas one?

Aloha Kirk:

I have one of those and cannot live without it.

But I just got a new one today from Shapers Australia, they sell them online from their Web site and they will mail to you here.

Theirs is a little different from the Pleskunas in one small but very handy way. For the direction where you would be measuring the width instead of it laid out in inches it is laid out in half-inches but labelled for the actual width. The really neat thing about this is that it means you do not have to do the math when you are laying out. If you are wanting a width of 20" you make a mark at the 20" mark, but it is really at the 10" mark.

Mine arrived in the mail today so I have not used it yet but I know this is going to be easy for laying out boards, but I would still use my Pleskunas for laying out fins!

Here is their Web site.

Do you have contact information for Pleskunas, because you could always try and get one directly from him, that was where I got mine. PM me if you want his phone number.

the “forty dollar piece o” plastic" is what was once called a “protractor”.

I heard he is out there somewhare in that “Swamp” known as Elkhorn Slough, slightly east of Moss Landing.

kirk

the pleskunas shapers square is available through ‘surf source’ in florida. they run $21.00 if memory serves me correctly

brasco

Aloha McDing:

That is correct it is just outside of Watsonville!

try a “fairgate center finding rule” - google it and you will see - they are metal, thus not see-through, but are handy non-the-less. I use mine for making frames and stretcher bars

kirk - I have one you can borrow anytime until you track one down, just let me know - and BTW, I’m diggin’ my egg, thnx!
