Pleskunas shaping tools

Hi Guys

I have been looking into Pleskunas shaping tools after reading a recent thread, mainly the concave and convex ones for the deck and concaves. I just wanted to get a few opinions on them as i have never seen them before but they do look interesting. At this point it is probably worth mentioning that i am over in England and they would cost me around $100 each. Not cheap but i understand that good tools cost money, and if they help my shaping i am all for it. That said i shape 5 or 6 boards a year and have no illusions of being a pro. I just enjoy shaping boards and riding boards that i have shaped.

So i just wondered if you think they are good tools and if they are worth it for someone like me?

Thanks for all your help

Have you thought about making your own? One of the sways members made a similar tool by attaching to long blocks together, one thinner than the other with belt sandpaper glued to it, and shimmed to give it the desired amount of concave or convex. You may be able to find the thread it was in by doing a search for Pleskunas tools.

Having said all that, I purchased one of his flat blocks and it's a great tool. It's great for truing up outlines and blending. However, when you first use it, the little carbide pellets come off, so it helps to run it over some scrap foam until most of the loose ones come off.

Edit: found the thread, scroll down and look for Bud's post: http://www2.swaylocks.com/node/1028123
