Plugs for a F.U. Box

My new board has a single plus two side runners in Fins Unlimited adjustable boxes. I want to ride it as a single fin for a while and I’m using packing tape to seal off the boxes (works pretty well, actually). Does anyone have a suggestion for a more permanent plug short of buying a large fin and grinding it down? Gracias, Newbalonie

…Are the side boxes FUs too?..10.5" center,8" sides?Herb

…Are the side boxes FUs too?..10.5" center,8" > sides?Herb Aaaaarrrrgh, I don’t know. They’re all FUs and I think the boxes are only 5 to 6 inches long. Its a Liddle 'tweener and the runners (fins) are a lot smaller than a “normal” tri or longboard training wheels. The boards at home. I’ll measure tonight… Thanks Herb, Newbs

I wonder how a Liddle Hull would work with Superchargers???

I wonder how a Liddle Hull would work with Superchargers??? I’m still trying to sort out how it works with a single fin! Actually, I know how it works, I’m trying to get the fin in an optimum setting before I start fooling with the runners. I rather doubt the super charges would be too effective as the runners are only slightly larger than the smallest canards I’ve seen. Thanks anyway…

I’ve thought about doing the same thing. My idea was to use wax. Wax is light and removeable. If the surface depresses too quickly, you could fill the depression with suncure. The wax would prevent the suncure from sticking to the fin box. …Warning, This might not work.

A better windsurfing shop should have the materials to plug the side fins. It is a hard rubber material or a dense foam (like foot pad foam). Any stiffer foam resist to water should do. Press it in then, cut it flush. Anthony>>> My new board has a single plus two side runners in Fins Unlimited > adjustable boxes. Sounds like just what I was looking for. Thanks. I know this won’t help with Fins Unlimited boxes. But, for future reference we have made a plug for the Red X system to be used for 2+1 applications. It pulls down just like our fins and can be sanded flush if the box was set to shallow.

…Are the side boxes FUs too?..10.5" center,8" > sides?Herb Herb: the runners are 6" long boxes. The foam idea below is ok but I’d be delighted if you have something else. Ultimately I’ll probably lay up a wood filled blank and grind a plug with a little 3/8" handle to pull it out when I want.

See if you can get some polypropolyene sheet plastic,It’s light, flexy,cut/sandable,and you can get it in a thickness of the box.I don’t have any right now …as I sent my last sheet to Tom S.,It shouldn’t be hard to find in your area.Herb…or you could fill it with casting foam?
