Hi there, Previously Mike.D gave me a great inspiration using polyester resin for hot coat. I think I 'll try it later. And yesterday, I read the Systemthree epoxy handbook ( just want to refresh myself cos I m gonna glassing my board tomorrow), it says epoxy coating can be added on top of poly resin but dont try to put poly resin on top of expoxy. I like very much of Mike’s idea, cos I plan to tint the epoxy layer and put the decal logo before hot coating. Just dont want the epoxy layer turning into yellow. Does any one here have any idea about the mixing layer of poly/epoxy resin? Thanks for your attention. Crabie
Yeah, I don’t think that’s what the System Three manual says. If so, it’s wrong. I just hot coated a System Three lam job with polyester resin. NOTHING sticks to unsanded epoxy. Epoxy resin won’t stick to unsanded epoxy. The trick is to sand the epoxied glass surface thoroughly before coating it with ANYTHING. That’s all. Just sand the epoxy. Did I mention that you have to sand the epoxy? Sunlight destroys epoxy resin. Polyester surfboard resin blocks sunlight. I’ll let you fill in the blanks. -Noodle>>> Hi there, Previously Mike.D gave me a great inspiration using polyester > resin for hot coat. I think I 'll try it later.
