  1. How Long Have you been surfing? about 14 years

  2. Age 24

  3. Long board or short board (if both which do you prefer.) longboard!

  4. Have you used Epoxy boards? you mean pop-outs? i’ve ridden 'em once or twice…briefly.

  5. Have you used Poly boards? certainly.

  6. If you have used both, do you prefer Poly boards OR Epoxy boards? and Why. i dislike popouts for what i perceive to be their poor performance characteristics and strength. the traditional PU/PE boards ride the way i expect a surfboard to perform. also, the boards i shape are generally a polyurethane foam core glassed with epoxy resin. these boards feel the same as if i were riding a PU/PE. this is a very complex question, and i hope you aren’t attempting to compile any relevant statistical data from this survey.

  7. Comments on Epoxy/Poly board materials. people who ride popouts surf on disposable beer coolers. and polyester resin is smelly. that’s why i go the polyurethane foam + epoxy resin route. that is all.

  1. How Long Have you been surfing? 12 years

  2. Age 28

  3. Long board or short board (if both which do you prefer.) Shortboard (but I do ride and will be building longboards soon!)

  4. Have you used Epoxy boards ? yes

  5. Have you used Poly boards? yes

  6. If you have used both, do you prefer Poly boards OR Epoxy boards? and Why. Epoxy - more variety!

  7. Comments on Epoxy/Poly board materials. Both make great boards, but epoxy has more potential. Poly has pretty much gone as far as it can go. Epoxy can take things further.

Kit

P.S. and i’ll answer number 7 on behalf of Silly - “Vomit Resin” (joke joke joke!!!)

  1. 7 years

  2. 17

  3. Longboard (single fin logs); shorties too

4.Yes

  1. Yes

  2. Poly. I like the weight and the stability and flex. Longboarding just feels better on a heavy board with flex that lets you drive the board. Epoxy feels like a toy. Although on my conventional thrusters I do prefer epoxy, but only on a run-of-the-mill tri fin potato chip.

  3. Poly has a more classic feel due to its mode of creation and therefore requires a more classic style. Epoxy is a different, more floaty type of surfing.

  1. How Long Have you been surfing? 43 Years

  2. Age 58

  3. Long board or short board (if both which do you prefer.) Long

  4. Have you used EPS Epoxy resin boards ? Yes

  5. Have you used Polyurethane boards? Yes

  6. If you have used both, do you prefer Polyurethane boards OR EPS Epoxy resin boards? and Why. EPS/Epoxy - I can make them lighter with more flex and, MOre importantly, I like the way they move through the water when I’m on them, their more responsive!

  7. Comments on EPS Epoxy resin/ Polyurethane board materials. No smell, fewer toxins when using epoxy resin.

Thank You For your time, it is very much appreciated! YOur welcome! Les

  1. How Long Have you been surfing? Many years.

  2. Age 16

  3. Long board or short board (if both which do you prefer.) I love both

  4. Have you used EPS Epoxy resin boards ? Yes

  5. Have you used Polyurethane boards? Yes

  6. If you have used both, do you prefer Polyurethane boards OR EPS Epoxy resin boards? and Why. I like both, Polyurethane is reliable and trustworthy and has a good performance. EPS/Epoxy / Compsand are incredible and mind blowing with some of the stuff you can do on them but its harder to get them tuned right in.

  7. Comments on EPS Epoxy resin/ Polyurethane board materials. The EPS/Epoxy thing is the future! VERY exiting and its good for surfing. the best part (for me) of the eps epoxy thing is the durability. Other than that you can also do really differant and marbioless stuff on epoxy.

Polyurethane has and always will be around. the performance is well tuned and the boards are reliable.

  1. How Long Have you been surfing? Far too long…

  2. Age 32

  3. Long board or short board (if both which do you prefer.) Longboard

  4. Have you used EPS Epoxy resin boards ? No

  5. Have you used Polyurethane boards? Yes

  6. If you have used both, do you prefer Polyurethane boards OR EPS Epoxy resin boards? and Why. N/A

  7. Comments on EPS Epoxy resin/ Polyurethane board materials. Haven’t tried EPS/Epoxy yet but I will be soon.

Thank You For your time, it is very much appreciated!

  1. How Long Have you been surfing? - 42+ years

  2. Age - 49

  3. Long board or short board (if both which do you prefer.) - both, like them all… long, short, in between

  4. Have you used EPS Epoxy resin boards ? - yes

  5. Have you used Polyurethane boards? - yes

  6. If you have used both, do you prefer Polyurethane boards OR EPS Epoxy resin boards? and Why. - I like them both. Poly boards are familiar, with a full, rich, friendly feel. Epoxy boards can be made many ways, and can exibit many different characteristics.

  7. Comments on EPS Epoxy resin/ Polyurethane board materials. - EPS / epoxy boards I’ve ridden have been light and lively. Some of the longboards I’ve ridden were too lively, and would flex, wiggle, and bounce around a lot. The poly boards… still the most familiar… I’ve had hundreds of them. I’ve come to realize that it’s not simply about the materials a board is made of, but how the materials work together to form the board’s characteristics. Shape, flex, wieght, and floatation are all critical to how a board will perform. Whether it’s made from epoxy, polyester, bamboo, chewing gum, or dog poo is less important than how the board surfs. A master shaper will make the best of what’s available.

  1. How Long Have you been surfing? 25 years

  2. Age .35

  3. Long board or short board (if both which do you prefer.) shorty or booger for a heavy shorey

  4. Have you used EPS Epoxy resin boards ? yes

  5. Have you used Polyurethane boards? yes

  6. If you have used both, do you prefer Polyurethane boards OR EPS Epoxy resin boards? and Why.

epoxycomposites cuz they keep there pop longer

  1. Comments on EPS Epoxy resin/ Polyurethane board materials.

epoxy is nice on a sandwhich and polyester is good for a night on the town

  1. About 30 years.

  2. 43

  3. Both. Longboard if small and clean. Shortboard if big and good. Fish if fast and sectiony or mushy, and under head high.

  4. Yes

  5. Yes

  6. EPS/Epoxy. Less toxic to work with, lighter, stronger, last longer if cared for properly.

  7. EPS is harder for me to work with than PU foam, and usually requires an extra step (sealing the blank). PU foam is easier to shape, you don’t have to seal, and you can epoxy over it. But if you do that, you loose the weight advantage of EPS. So for boards that don’t have to be super light, like longboards and guns, I do epoxy over PU. If I want the thing to fly, I do EPS.

  1. How Long Have you been surfing? 8 yrs

  2. Age 25

  3. Long board or short board (if both which do you prefer.) short

  4. Have you used EPS Epoxy resin boards ? yeah

  5. Have you used Polyurethane boards? yeah

  6. If you have used both, do you prefer Polyurethane boards OR EPS Epoxy resin boards? and Why. PU, becasue im used to the feel, if i screw up, i blame it on the epoxy:)

  7. Comments on EPS Epoxy resin/ Polyurethane board materials. i like the light weight of the EPS but im a bigger guy (210 lbs) abd feel like i push through the board with eps, PU boards seems to respond quicker and stronger for me.

1. How Long Have you been surfing? 8 Yrs

2. Age 46

3. Long board or short board (if both which do you prefer.) 5’3" - 10’0" prefer whichever board best suits the conditions If it was 1 then my 7’6" Bonzer egg pupe

4. Have you used EPS Epoxy resin boards ? Yes

5. Have you used Polyurethane boards? Yes

6. If you have used both, do you prefer Polyurethane boards OR EPS Epoxy resin boards? and Why. It depends on the construction method and the board shape. For general short mid length boards I prefer PUPE, For performance longboards I like epoxy/PVC Sandwich. For short wide boards, I like Epoxy directly over the eps, no pvc or stringer.

7. Comments on EPS Epoxy resin/ Polyurethane board materials.

Its not a straight comparison. Surftech and the like hide other materials and glass under the pretty paint job which contribute a lot of the performance characteristics. I like the toughness of epoxy, but I wont ride a shortboard with PVC in it. Even a cheap Chinese epoxy/eps feels better than a surftech shortboard with pvc. However PVC works for longboards 9+ IMHO

Really there a 4 major comparisons

(1) PUPE

(2) Epoxy/EPS

(3) Epoxy/PVC/EPS

(4) Epoxy/wood/EPS

Hope this helps

  2. Long board or short board (if both which do you prefer.) shorties, borrowed a 100lb. Dewey Webber from Dad once, fell on the first bottom turn, took the rail to the ribs, knocked the breath out of me, took board back to the porch and never looked back. If it’s too small for a fish, I’m goin’ fishin’…

  3. Have you used EPS Epoxy resin boards ? yup

  4. Have you used Polyurethane boards? yup

  5. If you have used both, do you prefer Polyurethane boards OR EPS Epoxy resin boards? epoxy and Why. I’m fat

  6. Comments on EPS Epoxy resin/ Polyurethane board materials. whatever flips your skirt

epoxy is nice on a sandwhich and polyester is good for a night on the town

that’s classic

  1. 13,870 hrs

  2. 16,060 hrs

  3. both, conditions dictate

4)yes

5)yes

6)yes & no, poly they taste better with beer, and give you a better buzz building… but Epoxy is a better ride in smaller waves

7)They are both just wonderful, simply wonderful. Enjoy, ok…bye, bye
