"Popout" problem

Oh…OK, They way your remarks about your interpretation on pop outs were in some way less valid. So I guess you agree, a good board is a good board regardless. [wink]

I agree totally. I’d like to be more clear. Where did I lose my train of thought?

I gotcha…sorry, read the wrong post. mix up on the way the threads are posted.

Aloha . Guess I touched a few nerves . sorry . just was trying to be respectful to all you board shapers out there. your artists. but i still don’t have too much of a good answer . Both boards are the exact same shape “Walden Magic” but the shorter 9’0" weighs 1.4 lbs more than the 9’6" I have . 9’0" = 16.2 & 9’6" = 14.8 on a good new shipping scale . I kinda don’t really care as long as it is’nt taking on water .As far a buying these boards theres good and bad you get what you see not what you try to tell the shaper and he might make you something else . which happens and is ok .Then again there’s nothing like getting just exactly what you want and that can only be done by custom shaping. it took me 4 boards but i now have just what i want.my friends thought i was nuts to keep up on the crusade to find that board especally on a construction workers pay but so what .

Sinner, just take your time inspecting the board, especialy at the fin boxes, leash attachment, and the ding-prone areas. Run a fingernail along any scratches to see if the glass is cracked all the way through. If there doesn’t seem to be any spots where water could seep through, just ride and enjoy–doesn’t sound like the weight factor will effect the ride at all.

Thanks Jamie …Guess thats what I needed to hear…

Remember Malibu,Dextra and some of the others? Those were real popouts not this new high tech stuff. They sold thousands of them to beginner surfers, most guys could not afford $150 for a Custom Hobie.Damn!I think I just saw a Hodad. R.B.

True handcrafted custom, molded and mass-produced, or something in between? Even if they all had the same feel and performance, I think this issue can be looked at from another angle: these choices also reveal different types of consumers… those who genuinely care about what a surfboard represents, those who don`t, and those who need further information to make an informed decision. Another reason why Swaylocks is such a great place to discuss the variables. http://neumaticsurfcraft.homestead.com/NeumaticSurfcraftwebsite.html

They are expensive beginner boards. And yes, you did sin. Scrap them and get a hand-built surfboard, and you will be forgiven. Keep it real brother.
