Post Pictures of your latest project - what ya been working on?

nocean,

Great looking board man. I reall enjoy seeing guys doing retro inspired shapes. That thing looks like it would be a blast!!!

Just the otherer day I discovered your IG account and spent an hour or so buggin out on your shapes.  Keep it up, and keep sharing, its appreciated.

Those concaves look great! And I really dig the resin work and the transition between colors, good choice.

Just shaped this little guy as my summer micro groveler. Puddle Jumper style squished down. Same bottom contours- big single concave to double and Vee out the tail. Dims- 5’ 9" x 22.25" x 2.75" N 17.5" x T 17.3" Vol 42 Ltrs.

Im going to do a bunch of different color tints on it (practice for me) and see how it comes out.

I wish I had put rail channels in this board when I made it.  After I tried them in my Gordita, I love them.  So I’m adding them after the fact.  No biggie, shaped in pretty much as I did with raw foam, just have to sand a bit more to get through the glass.

And as an extra bonus, a picture of my jobsite mascot, a hummingbird who built her nest about 36" away from where I’m pouring concrete and laying brick.  Gets right in my face sometimes, and looks me eye to eye, then buzzes over to sit on her nest.

Just recently wrapped up a couple projects around the shop. One being my UV oven build, and glassing space. Which allowed me to get caught up on some projects.

Last night I was able to put some time in and finished out this twin fin fish for a friend.

6’3.5"X19.75"X2.875"  wrapped in 4oz e cloth, single layer with full tail patch on the bottom, and 2 layers plus a 36" deck patch. Along with a hand painted ricepaper laminate of a salmon, that I painted with FW fluid acrylic paint.

Oh also, over the last few weeks. I started an InstaGram account just for my board building and adventures. If any of you are on the IG please pop over and check out the things. And please let me know if any of you have an account so I can peep on your steezie.

My latest project isn’t surfing related.  My boat has been sitting on its trailer since the economy took a dump.  I’ve been working to get it all ship shape for this summer.

There is glass work to do though.  The large deck panel was waterlogged so I very carefully removed and replaced the mahogany plywood with modern PVC foam and glassed it with West Syste,

I finished my agave board about a month ago and while it’s not perfect, it’s not entirely shit either.

It’s a heavy bugger, but fast thanks to all the extra momentum. Australian Red Cedar stringer and nose block, with English Oak tail block. The white blotches along the bottom are borer holes backfilled with a resin combo of q-cel and phosphorescent pigment. A bit ugly and I’d do it differently if I had my time over.

So now I’ve started on a new project - the ressurrection of an old longboard that’s been gathering dust in the rafters of my shed. First step was to strip it back and instal a couple of new cedar stringers - timber sourced from my local salvage yard.

I’ve sandwiched these with a couple of strips of agave inlaid alongside to a depth of 10mm. First shot shows the installation, second shot is after it’s all been trimmed back and cleaned up with a block plane.

Next I’ll remove the old leash plug and part of the tail, then instal nose and tail blocks and finish shaping the board.

The puddle Jumper is almost done. Did bunches of color resin work, installed the plugs and did white pinlines (a first for me). Letting everything cure up and now its time for sealer coat. One thing that got me was my epoxy had optical brightners in it… so the deep maroon deck patch turned almost purple  Its all good.

Question- Do you guys lightly scuff your resin pinlines to take the edge off and prep them for final coat? Any suggestions for prep? My last pinlines didnt do well with over coat. Thanks.

Purple Rain model. 6’8" x 23" 1/2 x 3". For a big boy. 2+1.

Interesting backdrop for the photos.

Board looks cool.

Great color work.

All the best

Thanks guys!!!

working on a pair of mini simmons, both shaped and starting glassing. this one is 5’2" 21" 2 3/8" first time doing a foam stain and pretty happy with the results. the lines are just shadows and the next one is gonna have a full resin tint.

Just finished my second board. It’s a 6’x21"x2 6/8" with a shape that I tried to make resemble the Hypto Krypto.

I used pigmented resin on my first board and it came out horribly, so for this one I painted the foam. Overall I’m pretty happy with how it came out

Just finished the hot coat last night.  I am going to give it another day or so to cure, then sand, paint and clear spray.

For me, 41 years, 25+ years of  surfing, 5’10 x 65 to 70kg, experimented surfer but often out of shape because of a fucking chronic disease wich attack my knees now so i need to reduce radical surfing.

So i mostly surf now at my home uncrowded beachbreak up to head high, a powerfull ultra fast hollow break, then i move to an  mellow open face break when wave became bigger. It’s an ultra crowded spot but multi pic with lot off stream so many wave to surf if good paddle.

I have many boards but i am not able to correctly manage a quiver and because of the surf i do now i want a one board quiver. I am a front foot surfer so i go with a stubby shape, flat front rocker, full rails, with way more volume than my old typical shortboard (5’11x18"1/2x 2"1/8) for paddle efficiency but i keep a lifted thin and pulled in tail with sharp rails for moves and control. I go with a flat bottom font up to middle then a double concave with a massive vee out back to help initiate turns. As always i experiment with build tech, composit springer multiaxial glass with epoxy foam on densify eps and glass lam. A bit heavy for this one, for glide and normally really durable. Hope it will goes well…
