posting pics on mac shambles

hi everyone, some of you will have probably laughed at me recently- trying to post digital photos, and failing terribly!!

(chipfish- thanks for all your helpful instructions) i should mention that my computer is a nice new e-mac. i have resized, choosen, uploaded, inlined, but thats where it ends- no image when i click my cursor. and according to most of the help available on the sway, i should find a little box with “a picture of mountains”???

any and all help would ( again) be appreciated- yes i am a spaz on the computer. later all…

any one else out there on a mac who knows what they’re up to??

the little box with the picture of the mountains… 2nd last on right [to the left of the chain looking thing…

[if this reproduces the same as I’ve typed it, look above the ‘c’ in ‘chain’ above here…

hope this helps…

 ben

you posted an ‘avatar’… well done…nice shot …you ???

[oops …silly me…that’s there when you’re typing the reply only ! ]

.jpg"]

now they can ‘laugh at ME’ …

   ben

Heist - you might be using the plain reply ‘Editor’. It has no little picture-of-mountains-icon. But below the code, reply, quote, etc. buttons, there should be something that says ‘Switch to Advanced Editor’. Click that & you’ll be in a different dialog box, complete with a little picture-of-mountains-icon in the uppper right.

None of the photo posting instructions made any sense to me either, until I figured this out…

I had problems with the “mountain pic” too. If your photo is uploaded to a web site you can use some basic html to get it to show like this

(img)link to pic goes here(/img)

replace the parentheses with brackets for it to work

if you upload the pic from your computer, most message board software requires the file type to be a .gif or .jpg file. Most will not accept a .bmp file

HEIST: I use a mac as well and uploading pictures hasn’t been a problem. Let’s see if we can figure it out - send me a private message and I’ll try to help.

wha? I need help, too

if you guys figure it out, you might post a “how to post pictures from a Mac” on the sticky thread at the top of the page (posting pictures)… someone will appreciate it later!

hey ben, yeah check it out- i actually managed to get that daggy little pic beside my username (an “avatar” you call it?) its a shot i got taken of myself on a photoshoot trip up to fiji back in ‘99’. we went up for a NZ surfing magazine article, got some gold shots-cloudbreak etc… but i got heaps of other stuff to show you guys relating to design, fins, sprays you know.

describing your gear is one thing but seeing guys like you (with that remake blue board of yours-nice job mate) posting loads of photos, just amps me up.

looks like alot of good advice here re;mac styles, so im gonna decypher it and try again!! talk to you soon mate

…is there such a thing as a 'photo junkie…" ??

I’m afraid I might BE an ‘addict’,( not just as my user status) … “H-E-L-P” !!!

‘quit looking at photos / taking photos now…ask me how’… ‘chip’

I’m using a mac and the sticky photo thread instructions worked for me.

For some reason I couldn’t post inline pictures while in either Internet Explorer or Safari on my Mac which has OS X - System 10.2?

If your version of Safari or IE looks like this when you post, you won’t be able to have inline pictures:

If you download the browser - Firefox 1.0 - from www.mozilla.org (8.6 mb) you can access the advanced editor in Swaylocks and it looks like this, the red arrow is pointing to the “mountains” square.
