Hurricane Jeanne is headed near the coast this weekend and winds are forecast to go offshore in central/south FL…time to dust off the semi-guns…
semi guns?!?..i longboard EVERYTHING. did you get a piece of the swell on monday? i got it at Deerfield Pier from 8:30am until 2pm when the winds switched on shore. it was about knee high when my buddy and i started, and we had it solo for about 2 hours until it was waist+. then, a few more people showed up, but the lineup never got more than 8 people (the kiddies were all in school…i love mondays), and by noon it was a solid chest-head+ with fast, thick, HOLLOW sections…it was the best surf i’ve had down here in years. i don’t know about you, but i’m certainly hoping for a little encore presentation from jeanne.
Just got back in from taking a look. It’s a good 6 to 8 victory at sea right now. winds are NE gusting to 26. The St Aug buoy is 10 feet 12 seconds. All the makings for some solid surf if we ever get the offshores. Just finished a nice little pin tail yesterday that can’t wait to get wet!
Just got back from surfing LBS.Rough as hell lot of current.Hope we get it
later in the week with no wind.Missed monday!!!
No semi gun for me, I’ll be fishin with my new fish…just got to find a place with some bottom left…lets hope it comes together. Warm water and solid surf…peace and waves…
yeah I caught it…the last wave I caught was double-overhead and my 6’6 was red-lining…got a 6’11 semigun waiting.
No offense but I’ve seen EVERYNONE try to surf my local barreling break on epic days on long and shorties and most guys just cant handle it…more waves for me…any self respecting real surfer needs a gun in his quiver…I’ll be the guy railgrabbing in the big hole looking out.
i’ve got a few longboards that are designed for the bigger/heavier days, but even on that day i was happy with my Robert August “What I Ride” at 9’0". in fact, i didn’t even bother to put the sidebites in, but when it got up over chest high i did move the fin back to the middle of the box. then, i saw a few guys lose their boards between the rocks and the pier, so i decided to leash up (which is a rarity)…but no worries…i don’t need no gun.
