Powerlite blanks, Texas

Does anyone know what is going on at Powerlite blanks in Texas? I’ve used them for the last couple of years for EPS blanks, but lately I can’t contact them. Did they go tits up?

I tried contacting them to get specs for their DuraClear resin, but all I got was a partial response…this was around 3 months ago.

I wouldn’t bother using them ever. I rarely like bashing a company, but I ordered 5 blanks for people, paid upfront roughly $700 in March, and I didn’t get them until June. I kept calling and getting ridiculous excuses for why they hadn’t been shipped out 3 weeks after I was told they would be.

I called around and found other people locally in Texas who had had the same problems and were out thousands of dollars.

The actual blanks were okay, I kept two of them and shaped them. Good glue-ups and a large assortment of rockers, but dealing with the company and getting a response for them is horrible. I wouldn’t be surprised if Craig is out of business.

Craig is not tits up.

I used his blanks on my number 2 and number 3. No complaints here, I can drive 2 minutes down the road and pick them up by hand.

There are several shapers in Texas that are using his blanks.

Tunaman.

Powerlite is still in the blank business and has one of the widest selections of custom rockers and stringers available. Sorry you haven’t been able to reach Craig but I think he is having phone problems…If you need to order a blank you can contact me and I will help to facillitate your order. I live 2 miles from the shop and every board I shape is based on my custom Krokus rockers.

AS for properties or specs on Dura Clear…mmm

Basically good luck finding that info on any resin…Viscocity is roughly that of RR2000/fast…pot life a little shorter and cure time a little shorter. Very good for quick fill coat turnarounds/production. It is the only resin I have tried other than Gregs that is remotely comparable in strength. Due to limited manufacturing runs from the bulk manufacturer Dura Clear is not available at this time. It may become more readily available as the season heats up this spring. A very good inexpensive alternative to RR.

Personally, I only use RR for my boards… It’s the best, strongest…PERIOD>

Rachel, Sorry for your hassle. I will investigate your accusations. I do know around that time Powerlite received an order of the wrong density foam. That was sent back and the next batch had the wrong bead size and was also sent back. it was almost a month to get the right foam…Not Craig’s fault as I was waiting on foam also… You are entitled your opinion but those were strong words when talking about someone’s livlihood…If you want blanks in a timely manner, contact me directly. I will make sure you receive your next order as fast as it can possibly be filled and shipped…Blanks are cut and glued to order. General turnaround on blanks to out of state customers is 7 to 10 days. And yes you must pay for them up front. I give my money to the girl at Mc D’s before she hands me my food…

Right now thru the end of February all Powerlite blanks are 10% off the listed price for singles and 20% off when ordering 2 or more. that will help ease the cost of shipping.
