Setting up an epoxy repair kit to take with me to mexico, and I’d love it if I didn’t have to pack the Add.F separately. Do you suppose I can premix the F and the hardener in one jar? Will that screw things up a couple weeks down the road when I’m patching a board?
Not knowing anything about chemistry, I’d still say it’s a bad idea. When you mix up epoxy you add the hardener first before the add F because the hardener has to react with the epoxy completely. Otherwise it won’t cure completely. It’s an A and B reaction, whatever that means.
Yeah, I totally didn’t pay attention in high school. Maybe Greg will help out.
Well, that’s news to me! I always just dump my resin/hardener/F in a pot together and mixem all up!
Possible C reaction:
Grossly improperly reacted epoxy compsand surfboard + NaCl + H2O +
sunlight + Mexico enviro X additives =
spontaneous combustion?
LOL
I could be completely wrong. And apparently I am. Just reread the epoxy primer and Greg says you can mix all 3 together at once. I think I may have been thinking about pigments/tints.
That being said, it might still be a bad idea if the two are mixed together for a while.
My supply came with the additive F pre-mixed into the hardener, so you should be fine.
Excellent! I’m good to go then. Thanks hackysacky!
