price of ding repair

I called several ding repair people for “ballpark” price info on a small ding and I was interested in the widely varying price estimates (not to mention the turnaround time). One guy said that some people charge “$70 to repair a pinhole”. Yet I’ve had glass-on fins taken off and removable fins put on for $100, so there seems to be a huge variance. Yes, I know the repair guy needs to see the actual job to accurately give a price. But are there any price standards one can expect? What about differences in polyester and epoxy repair prices?

If you are near Huntington Beach CA, go to “Little House of Repairs”. John Taylor does excellent repairs and I don’t believe he has a minimum $ amount. I got a medium ding repaired in the recent past for under $35.>>> I called several ding repair people for “ballpark” price info on > a small ding and I was interested in the widely varying price estimates > (not to mention the turnaround time). I don’t believe there are that many options in San Dog…Roper’s is the most popular. If it is one little ding, I would try to repair it myself, and if you can’t just patch it up with some solarez or something. Honestly, if you take a board in for one little ding, they will charge you $35 or so, but if you have multiple dings, it costs a lot less (per repair) It also depends where the dings are…are they a couple inches from each other or are they on opposite sides??? If they are close, it usually is considered one repair. (If you can’t tell, I have had a lot of dings repaired) GF
