Thanks for the great fin thread. Larry, do you have any Gebhart style keels for Pro boxes? Double foiled of course.
Thanks, Tripper.
They have Glass On’s too!!!
Hey Larry,
Thanks for the info and the pix. That earth tone single looks very nice. I’ll definitely look you up when i’d like a fin made. Much appreciated.
Woohoo! Got my cutaway keels, and they are wicked! Thanks Larry! I’ll try them out, tomorrow (if not tonight), but I’m going to give it a week or two before I give my ride report. Need to try out the different angles to see what I like best.
That is a sweet set of fins!! Love the ghostly rainbow colors inside them.
Larry Are you hiding from me? I need some proboxes and some power pads STAT!!! Call me asap please.
Austin
Robin,
I just got off the phone with Larry myself. Super nice guy. Can’t wait to get my keels! As for the surprise, I gotta say I do love surprises! Wait, I told him any color would do…I hope the surprise isn’t that the keels are pink! I’ll just have to wait.

[=Blue]What’s wrong with PINK? [:)]
Hi Bill!
WHOA! That board is beyond pink! If I wasn’t such a mediocre surfer, I could have pink fins, leash, or even a pink board. Although, if you look at the fins Larry made in the right light, there is some pink as the light refracts.

Aloha Ben
Yeah, that pink is a little over the top for most. The board is owned by my old team rider and pro surfer Debbie Melville Beacham in La Jolla. I also did another one like it for DaKine that they used in their Women’s Trade Show Booth. Actually the pink was tempered a bit with a lavender shadow of various tropical plants silhouetted over the pink.
I love doing boards for women because they aren’t afraid to enjoy themselves and colors. Men are much more uptight and overly sensitive about their colors. (not you of course! Ha! Just the other guys!!) I loved the 80s, way more fun with everyone looking to destinguish themselves regardless of how they surfed, rather than follow the boring mediocre pack.
But I am loving all the new interest in colors lately. Especially the Pigment Laminations. He often gets a bad rap here on Swaylock’s but Randy French deserves the primary credit for rejuvenating the interest in color and Polished Finishes. Man I hated making all those dull clear sanded finish boards back in the 90s!
Hey Austin, Been on the road doing installs and getting my display ready for the show next week. Will talk to ya tomorrow morning before my day gets crazy. Look forward to talking to ya tomorrow. Going to bed, thought I would check out Sways first. Mahalo, Larry
Bill, Love that color WOW!!! Mahalo,Larry
Bill, that pink hurts my eyes. Definetly seems it would work for competiton, the judges would never miss a wave
Hi Bill,
There are of course some men who aren’t afraid either, such as CJ Nelson:

And some women are really into it, such as Layne Beachley:

I’m not sure I could pull it off. Although, if I did have a pink board it might help clear out the lineup, and if it is a big longboard, that would make it funnier when people unintentionally drop in on me and say, “I didn’t see you, sorry bro.” Then I can say, “Yeah, understandable considering my board is 11 feet long and PINK!!! Stupid-head!”
I do agree, though, color is good. Except in wetsuits in SB, cause the tar turns them black in due time. Thanks too for the history lesson on color.
