ProBox-Larry SPITS out a Bamboo Fire

Thought I would share alittle of whats new for 09 with Greenlight Bamboo and Solosurfer. Here’s the first stage of a Spitfire Bamboo fin to join the Revolution for 09.

Groovy!

I think bamboo really suits fins.

Its high stiffness is appropriate, and it looks nice.

I’ll be making some for my compsands, so i’m watching this thread to see how you go about it

Looking forward to getting some probox here in NZ, cheers Larry!

For everyone who is curious about the key hole looking slot in the Bamboo Spitfire fin…

It’s for the Fibre Glas Fin Co’s UNIVERSAL FIN TAB

Now available for home shapers to simplify making their own bamboo center fins with Greenlight’s new Center Fin Panels

Also great for repairing damaged fiberglass fin tabs

Sorry, can’t upload the PDF file. Too large…

Email me anytime if you want a full scale copy for the install templates.

Thanks.

That universal tab is genius… I like solosurfer’s outline, I think i would eventually like to try a quad setup based on that planform.

btw, I am about to send you a PM

how do you seal the fin and cut out that profile for the universal tab?

Brian, Thank you for creating the instruction sheet for the Universal Tab. I am stoked to get input and help from my Swaylockian Brothers. This tab was something me and Bill Stewart put together back in 1989 for some Corelite Single fins. Bill and I tried to move these fins into the market, but pricing and production of these fins were high cost in the market to do it right. Will posts some pics so you can see these fins. I guess you overlooked all those word thingys in the install instructions!

Drill, cut, sand, seal, press universal tab in and go surf it!

first of all…

Guess you could put one on each end of fin and then no need for a Pin…Larry educate us about the pin placement etc.

Lets see a picture of a finished one…

Larry------------------I am so impressed with the willingness that you have towards the guys around this forum and their innovations. You have an open mind and are sooo creative yourself. You have the ability to sort thru some of the trivial ideas and come up with the best. Thank You! Lowel Hd McDing------Little Hawaii Surf Designs—Maui

How much are those tabs gonna cost? They look like they would solve sooo many headaches when making fins. No more worrying about that pesky tab.

The Universal Tab is one good little idea - and perfect for the bamboo tech.

Re-building shattered tabs was always a PITA, great repair solution also.

A boon to the DIY, no more precision drilling required!

Good on ya, as our upside down friends say.
