Just wanted to drop a peek of my new toy for summer. My 5’8 x 20 5/8 x 2 1/2 Epoxy/EPS with glass on fins. Went with a light single to vee off the tail by flipping the tips of the tail for added release. Pretty basic other then I left a bit of meat between the feet while foiling out the tail to thin pinched rails off the tail. Hoping the added float will add some extra poop in small gutless waves this summer. Doing glass on twinzers is a bitch for sure.
That’s a great job…if feel your pain with sanding between those fins. Lovely clean board. Guess she’s real light with glass ons?
Cheers

Well its my board 5’9. 160. I could have made it thinner. I wanted a litte cork pop for the flat mushy waves of suimmer. I really went with my own way setting fins. 9 on main fins and shadowed canards 1/2". Split the canard between the fin and rail about 1 3/8. Fins are pretty straight with the canards a bit straighter then the twins. I did go straight to add more drive because of the short rail. The wing is to allow a even straighter rail line between the feet Also the wing allows me to pull in the tailblock. A little less nose and less tail should make for tight transition off the bottom and top. A better Bar of soap
hey I’m almost done with a twinzer too… just about to wetsand the gloss coat. Was NOT up for the glass on thing tho! mine’s 5’10" and poly… and I decided against rounding off the tails, so…
hoping its a fun ride… I think we’ll have some surf on Wed or Thursday ?
Green is always a good color. Nice looking. I still have to sand. I presanded the fin.s. Basically done then hoat coatyed liike a gloss. I hope to sand tomorrow
Hey, sorry for the noob question- my only other post so far was instantly trolled and insulted- but what sort of feel does the twinzer have? My experience with quads is generally with the smaller fins as the trailers, so I’m just wondering- what’s the technical/response difference between larger lead fins vs. smaller leads?
To answer your question turbo charged twin fin feel. Instant speed with pretty tight turns. The Quads tend to load up better and slingshot thru turns where Twinser shoot the board through turns. Less hop with more pop. What I’m trying to achieve is a real small wave board. For those weak flat wind swell waves that need all the help you can create. So what was that Noob question I missed it?
Could you translate that into standard English for me?
I’m thinking of making a twinzer. I tried a quad and found it tracky and a little unpredictable. I figure the twinzer will still have the unpredictability that all boards without a centerline fin have, but was hoping it was more pivoty, less tracky, but still drivey. I might try it with a FCS plug in the center to add a knub if it still feels too sketchy transitioning form turn to turn.
ps I guess you can’t talk about surfboards without using jargon and slang…
twinzer with the center plug is a great idea, even better to have a single tab for the canard too. The future twinzers are huge!!! I highly recommend making your own. I could scan the Jobson template from a dynamc balance when I have time if you like.
really nice looking board SanO. super clean.
The twinzer truly feels unhinged. Instant speed. I never felt the drag of the thruster until I rode the twinzer. The feeling, to me, is like just being along for the ride, meaning, really effortless movement. I’m not trying to turn and carve, but transitioning from rail to rail and the board is doing all the work. No loss of speed coming in or out of turns as long as your smooth. Goes from bottom to top in an instant. Someone else described it me as being able to just “flick” the board around really easily. Love em for sure, highly recommend one in the quiver for everyone.
Ok let me see if I can make it simple to understand. Twinzers are just faster at making speed. They just don’t handle speed and size like a Quad does. I guess when ya think about it Quads have more base and spread apart making them drive out of turns and cutback. Where twinzer feel more twin fin like yet the canard directs the water into the main fins. They are set pretty straight forward. Giving the board that added turbo feel. Very fast with less effort to create speed right at take off. Like I said this is more a toy then a go to kind of board. When its under shoulder high creating speed is key. Its just for kicks and giggles making small wave surfing fun.
What up Rat. Is this my design who else would I put my Logo on. Lowers midweek on small days when all the rippers are MIA. You know middle of the day. This thing should kill knee to chest high waves. Slice and dice
I was going to order the glass on twinzer set from fiberglasssupply.com. I saw them somewhere on a board and they looked OK and only cost $32 for a set. I was also thinking of throwing a e wing on there as well. I think it was Gdaddy who did one like that. The board would be my small wave summer board. San O’s looks great by the way…
Thanks Pico. I had these fins made up by Mark Stavron. Ofish. I gave him new templates. The template is very Greenough inspired with added base. 5" X 5 1/2 base.
Next is a Twinzer HPLB. .
