So far all my boards I’ve made, when I vacuumed them, I did so as an envelope type deal. You know, just putting the bagging material against the rocker table…
Now I’m planning on buying some real bags. How do I get the rocker in the board, if the vacuum isn’t against the table? Does it still put the rocker into it? Or should I put weight on it so it lays against the table correctly, or what?
If you’re confused about something I posted (since it’s hard to explain) just ask and I’ll explain better.
I usually have the bag more of an envelope using the table as part of the bag… but I guess I’ll just have to get a bigger bag and put the whole table in… I was hoping I wouldn’t have to do that, but oh well…
Check out my postings in the "Adjustable Rocker Table " thread.
There is no need to encapsulate the whole table, just bag up your board and laminates and strap the whole thing down to the table, this way you are forcing the rocker into the board.
I posted some clear instructions for how to do this technique.
By the way I am a kiteboard builder most of the time.
cause i tape sheet and blank in place and centered on the table(marked centre line)
if your bottom skin is over size it wont fold around the sides if you bag the table.
i imagine there is no difference in the end result.
put in bag and clamp the end .its really not a drama.
when i started this thing i took berts advice and made a heavy duty pvc bag that was pretty big .im on to board no5 and its still going strong i use clamps on the end
so i dont use any sealing tape in the process which saves waste also having a permenent bag saves waste.

I also am making kiteboards… I’ve made a few, but I want better bags, so I’m going to the premade bags with valves.
I don’t do a full bag any more myself, I have now opted for the “Half” bagging technique as previously discussed in the previously discussed thread.
“Half” bagging gives me much better waste management and less use of consumables as well as more than halving the time it takes to construct a board.
However when I used to “full” bag, I found the most economical method was to purchase plastic tubing from a whole sale supplier, from memory about 170 meters was around £50-£60 English pounds and lasts for ever.
You can also reuse this plastic tubing, even if you use bagging tape.
Simply make the bag a little longer than required. Seal one end permanently.
On the other end just seal as normal then just cut the seal away from one end and reuse until the bag becomes too small.
You should be able to get loads of reuse this way. Also bagging tape is not a necessary you can get cheaper alternatives, such as glazing tape again if this is sourced from a trade supplier, it is way cheaper than proper bagging tape.
