have a finished shape that has a spot on the deck where i chunked it with the planer. didnt come all the way out with the final sanding. can i use a paste of q-cell and lam resin to fill in prior to glassing? pros / cons?

yeah mate , done it lots of times. white pigment added helps a bit ,as with just Q cell you get a bit of a yellow ring around the hole.
even if its not fully filled the lam resin will take up the rest.

I would glass it first and then repair otherwise you’ll have all the fun of trying to level the resin to shape without having anything protecting the foam around it.
Try a heat gun on it, just be careful. Put a similar defect in scrap foam and practice first. You can remove very deep dents with heat.
i tried that pete, but it was too deep to bring it back out.
cut a plug out w/ a fresh razorblade
make a close tollerance plug to fit the hole
glue it on the bottom of the hole
the closer the tollerance
the less the resin line
arround the plug…
done well ,invisible.
i use that ol’ zap a gap
for glue and th turn arround time
is less than 5 minutes…
