Me and a friend have a long board: 9’6’’ that snapped right above the fins, we going to convert it to a shorter 7’2’'. Going to shape the tail into a rounded pin but its kind of thick here since its basically in the lower middle part of the board. With reshaping the tail should sand it up as it approaches the back? or just leave it kind of flat. Also we were thinking of shaping our own fin just for fun. Any feedback as far as the type of wood to use and how exactly I should go about glassing that fin in would be greatly appreciated.
p.s. this board isnt going to be used for anything huge. Just wanna mess around on it again and thought a shorter version would be fun on those not so exciting days.

Hmmmm, Your center rocker will be moved back and you wont have much tail rocker in front of the fins so you will have to shape some in…also refoil the tail and thin it out. Just buy a premade fin and save the time.
