Looking for suggestions for quad placement on this board I’m about to carve out. It’s 5’6" x 21 3/4" x 2 5/8". Nose and tail width about 18". The wing is at about 12" from the tail. Will be belly in the front flowing to mild single in the middle, to vee in the area behind the wing. I’m particularly interested in the placement of the front fins relative to the wing. I was thinking 9" for the fronts (rear dot); 1 1/4" off the rail with 1/4" toe. This would put the front fin right about the same spot as the wing. For the rears I was thinking about 3" from tail (1 3/4" off the rail with 3/16" toe). Using fusion boxes so I can switch out fins.
Here she blows. Marks are 10" and 4". 1.25" off rail for fronts w/1/4" toe. 1.75" off rail for rears with 3/16" toe. Let me know if I’m way off before I bust out the router and fusion jig…
Thanks Josh. Any rationale for those numbers, which are a bit further forward than mine?
The reason I hesitate to go further forward is my buddy just got a 5’10" simster from Rusty and his fins are further back than mine! Like 3.5" for the rears and 9.75" for the fronts.
Fin placement is going to be all over the place as it is personal preference. Your numbers might be a little on the tighter feeling side. The numbers i gave you is the placement of my gutwagon dims 5’7x15.25x21.5x17.25 that i ride right now. It just works.
