I’m pretty new to shaping and glassing boards. I just finished shaping my first EPS blank yesterday and was curious to see what you all reccomend when it comes to glassing. What do you all use? I’ve read a good amount about resin researches quick kick formula and it sounds like good stuff. What does everyon reccomend for a beginner, that will turn out nice?
Check the FAQ, also the RR website has alot of good info on how to use their resin.
Hope that helps! From one newbie to another I’m on board three lol and feel like a little school girl at her first dance every time I get near foam and epoxy…
I glassed my first two boards with RR kwick kick epoxy and had no problems and im about as begginer as it gets. Just mix the correct ratio and it should dry tack free in about 1.5 hours if your in a warm climate or else you have a problem haha. Finished product can come out looking awesome if you sand to about 400 then polish or a flat look works too if you dont wanna polish
Read the link that IamSAW posted. If you have any questions read the link again. It's all based on Greg Loehr's methods. I did not make this stuff up......I am using a proven method. That thread happened long before RR KK. Shorter "flip" times now...same rules. Everything I do with RR epoxy I learned from this site.....and lots of people disagree or do things different......not right or wrong.
EPS foam....well.....early on myself and 15,000 other people thought we were using 2 pound foam....nope...it's sold as 2# but closer to 1.75....or 1.5............so more stuff to learn
and I just shaped a board with real 2 pound.....Fun City here I come!
