Hello, I’ve just started making boards, I’ve made two so far, but the problem I’m running into is the gloss finish. I apply the finishing resin with a brush, sand it starting with 400 (wet), then go over it with 600 (wet). At that point is it very smooth but dull, I then took polishing compound, hand rub it on, when it dries I used an electric buffer and took it off, but it still is dull, can someone give me some tips on what I’m doing wrong? Thanks for any help
either your speeds are to slow on the polisher or you’re not using the right polish.
Check resources on this site for the best polish I’ve ever used, very fast and great result. (It’s from Voss chemie) Good luck. Thanks for any help I start spinning the polisher slightly before the compound sets and dries. Don’t start too early or you’ll splash it everywhere. After the first compound you still need to used a #2 grade polish. Don’t sweat it if you can’t get it really shiny. It all looks the same when your are snapping it off the top!!!
