Question about Pink color showing up after I glass a board

I glassed 2 boards tonight and after doing the Lam on the the first board all was good but when I did the lam on the second board I noticed a little pink tint  on the bottom after I was done that wasn't there when I started. at first I thought maybe it was something I just didn't notice before and thanked the shaping gods that the board was for me and not a paying customer.....when I did the top lam for the first board the pink was back and this time it was almost in straight lines across the board.. this board is for a paying customer and I'm not sure how this happened.

Have any of you ever had this mysterious pink tint show up after using Poly resin and do you know what causes it???

What glass are you using?

it's Warplite 4 oz and 6 oz both have pink sploches after i did the lam

What resin was it?

I was using 249B Poly resin I bought here in Florida.....the thing about this is that there is no common thread between the two boards other than where the material came from.....blanks were different brands, two different cloths and resin from 2 different gallon jugs..I got an email from another local Florida guy that said this has been happening over on the west coast but I have no way of knowing that for sure if that is true

The stripes are probably from the glass picking up the color unevenly while the pink color probably has to do with the resin or the hardener.  I saw this happen a long time ago … 30 years ago … it wasn’t even Silmar … Dion I think. Also, sure you didn’t overspray from another airbrush in the shop … like a red?  That is something that can be invisible until you get the blank wet.

what are you using as a squeegee?

I use the standard White rubber Squeege.... the only thing I can think is that it is over spray from the board but I'm not sure how it got on both boards...I guess it will stay a mystery.

Did you airbrush a board in the shop red or bright orange recently?

yeah Greg, one of the boards does have a little red airbrush on it......if you say it may not show until after it gets wet, that has got to be what happened. It was not there until after I wet out the glass so I am going with that theory.

Thanks for the Help Greg!

Yea the blanks have an electrical charge and they’ll just suck the paint right out of the air.  We had a young team guy one time who wanted to paint his own board.  Came into the factory with a can red spray paint and a roll of tape.  Every blank in the place had overspray and we had to do coverups on every board.  Couldn’t even see the paint until the resin hit it.

Howzit adam, Just shows that you never have another blank inthe paint spraying room when doing a spray job since over spray doesn't show up until the resin hits it, I used to lay my squeegee i=on the board while mixing my resin and I started seeing a yellow spot there, took me awhile to figure it out and to this day I still wonder why it did urn that area a slight yellow. But it seems that pink is the new color to deal with and the times are a changing and so are the colors.Aloha,Kokua
