But, to date we have been focusing on more fin templates. True Aimes have made 7" plus center fins that fit in the existing Red X boxes. I have one in my Bonzer. We’ll let you know when we make the longer boxes.

Patrick,>>> There are plans to make a box with more travel. But, to date we have been > focusing on more fin templates. We’ll > let you know when we make the longer boxes. so i need to call True Aimes for the 7" fin becasue i don’t see on the website and do you know how much would it be? also can the 7" fin can be adjust like the red X or it can’t becasue its to big?

We do have two 2+1 side bites available and a plug to fit the > holes when not in use. tom, i got this from a different post that you reply to. does this means that red x sell two box w/ two fins or three box w/ two small sidesbites. would it be cheaper or more expensive? thanks

Anyway you can call Larry Block at 805-583-0057. He has 6-1/2" and 7" center fins that are adjustable that were shaped for Bonzers. He may have some other templates for Guy Takyama. Give him a call and he can let you know about pricing and availability. Thanks for the interest!

The second is a Guy Takyama template. It is deeper and has much more tip area with a pronounced hook and square trailing edge at the tip.

…The Guy Takayama side fins are killer.I use them with my short board,in a 2+1 Widow Maker set-up.I run a X-1,X-7,X-4 or X-8 center fin. This allows me to drop as much resistance from toed, and canted sidefins ,but keeping drive and positivity to a maximum. The G.T. fins have a little more going for them than the standard side bites you normally see…Halycon would love them,I’m sure.Herb

So tell me where to go to see these Takayama side fins!>>> Good Surfin’, Rich …Halcyon, I think I got your sign name right this time…try this, it’s the XL-2,Herb. www.redxfins.com

tom, do think red x will ever have a test drive center like the FCS that let you borrow the fins at one of their retailer store because i love to try out other fin templates but i’m don’t have that much money to buy all the different templates. let me know if red x are planning to do that, also can you tell me any surf shop that sell Red x fins around So Cal area becasue its so hard to find a store that sell Red X fins. thanks

…It’s there Rich, I swear.I just checked again.Herb i could even enter the red x site anymore and couldn’t find the xl-2 from a page that i open couple days ago. is this the right www.redxfins.com?

…It’s there Rich, I swear.I just checked again.Herb Well Herb, Maybe you have something on you P.C. that I don’t. This website: http://www.redxfins.com/redxfins.html shows X-1 through 8, XL-1, XT-1, Trailer, Proteck and that’s it. Maybe Tom can fill me in on what’s going on. It’s just another mystery. Mahalo, Rich

Enter through www.redxfins.com, hit refresh just to be sure, then go from there. regards, Håvard

Had my first look at the redX system on a used board in the local surfshop. Looked really good and solid. regards, Håvard

Let me know where you are located and I will find the closest test center to you. Halcyon, I am not sure if Larry has put the XL-2 up on the website yet or not. I’ll check with him when I speak to him later today. Herb, Yeah Trestles was fun on Thursday and Friday. Glad you had some fun ones. I was out in the morning with my new Red X Bonzer. For waist to chest high I had a blast too.

Halcyon,>>> I am not sure if Larry has put the XL-2 up on the website yet or not. I’ll > check with him when I speak to him later today. I brought your sight up again this morning in Internet Exporer and the new version of it came up with the XL-2 of course. Just got a treatise on “twist-fins” from a pretty interesting fellow in NorCal. Below I’m just sharing a few thoughts about fin development: The options for fin combinations as well as templates is endless, surfboard configuration being no exception. Everything works a little differently as we know. I think the real trick in measuring how fins perform is to have a couple of test rider boards that fin combinations are changed on regularly so that the sense of how things are changing under foot can be felt more easily. I have a pair of very different 7"9"s and will soon have a couple of 8’8"s. The bottom line of my solution is to have one board with a realatively wide tail and one with a relatively narrow one. The configurations of the boards are very different. I keep changing setups and board as the surf conditions and my whims ask me to. I know my approach is very intuitive and I’d probably drive a scientist nuts, but it seems everytime I go out something happens that never happened to me before, and after all isn’t that a big part of surfing? The number on factor is the fun-factor. Mahalo, Rich Even though I’m not surfing RedX-- you can take this to the bank-- It’s a great product!

Rich, Surfboard development has always been very intuitive and a little technical. Consequently, when we first chose how to develop our various templates, we decided to use master fins from reputable manufacturers. I have also stayed with one principal board shape that has been my personal baseline test vehicle for all the thruster templates we have made to date. For the Bonzer program I had Malcomb make me a board to my dimensions and got to try it last Friday fo rthe first time. And my brother (Dewey Weber’s lead shaper) made me a long board this weekend to use as a test vehicle for the side bites and future center fin templates.
