So, just to recap what you’re saying, is that we should glass, then put the laminates down right before hot-coating? Makes sense. We’ll give that a shot.

Howzit lordboots, You can probably get a brand new Epson printer with Durabrite ink for about $ 80.00 if you shop around. I think they are up to C-86 now and they probably go for $99.00 but epson almost always has a $ 20.00 rebate so you end up at $ 79.00. My first was a C-80 and it was really fast but it also threw a lot of ink around inside the printer and mine died after about a year and a half. I now have a C-82 which prints slower but doesn’t throw ink and it’s 2 years old and just keeps going. With every upgrade ( C-84/ C-86 ) Epson is fixing any flaws that they found in the previous model. Aloha,Kokua
Thanks. If you happen to stumble across a deal online, definitely post it, as we’ll be stoked to pick one up…

I found one online for $115 delivered. I ordered it. I can’t believe that the C84 is 5760x1440 dpi. Holy crap. I remember the days of dot matrix printers and how cool it was that you could make pictures of lobsters on them like this:

I’ll be posting pictures of the boards and the glassing process as soon as we get into it. Thanks.

speaking of the devil…
anyone need paper?
I still got some at a decent price…
I completely forgot about it…
I think it’s been tested by Kokua and some others here…
I gave a bunch to Keith when he was here for the Swayers back in Cali so maybe he also tested it too for invisibility/visibility…
Let me know (PM)
Howzit Oneula -
I haven’t tested your paper yet (had enough lams pre-printed), but I will be more than happy to give it out this weekend if anyone who comes to the get-together at my house wants some…
You bring up a good point that I was going to mention in this thread anyway - the type of rice paper you use does matter. Some rice papers go more transparent than others when wetted out, so if you really want that thing to disappear, you may have to try different sources…
I’ve used Oneula’s RP and it is fantastic, went through the printer by itself and goes totally clear, no edges to be seen at all.
I have also used shoe box paper, that worked for me too…
I print my laminates using rice paper taped to regular printer paper and using a HP 950C Desk Jet that I bought for $145 from Costcos a few years back. I tested the ink and paper by glassing a few laminates on any old board and leaving it out in the sun for a few months. Fading was hardly noticeable. I bought the first batch of rice paper from Fiberglass Hawaii. The rest I found at Marukai 99 cents store. Believe it or not, I paid 99 cents for 80 rice paper calligraphy sheets. I purchased two packs two packs. I sealed my balsa blank before I laminated. I’ll attach a few pictures of the laminates that I made both on the balsa and foam board. Making the laminates is fun and a great way to customize your board to your own desires.
