Question for Hicksy

Hi Hicksy Can’t find your post about painting your wooden board with acrylic enamel (I think it was) but I was wondering if you taped any lines or designs off and if you did, did you have any problems with paint bleeding under the tape? I just finished a 9’ hollow wooden board, balsa rails mahogany bottom and deck, and I want to paint the junction of the balsa and mahogany to cover up the somewhat unsightly scarf looking joint caused by shaping the rails. Thanks, Tom

Hey Tomh

I didn’t used acryllic enamel, it was just student acryllic paint, cheap as chips.

No need to water it down, just paint it on and let it dry slowly, otherwise the paint will shrink and orange peel.

When you mask off to paint, run your fingernail along the paint side edge and that will stop paint running under the tape.

Thanks for the help, all questions answered, onward to the glassing! (gulp!)

You’ll be fine Tom
