I am about ready to glass #001 & #002. I know that I can get glassing supplies locally at the former Mahogany Co. in Mays Landing. Is that my best option?
Also, I am sure I will be ready to get my hands on a few more blanks soon. My first 2 attempts are a stripped re-shape from a garbage find and an older Clark blank I grabbed from ebay shortly before Clark closed. I know about Foam-EZ, but is anyone getting blanks from another source? local pickup or ship would work, thanks
i work for a small board company outside of philly. we distribute teccel blanks and have quite a few on hand depending on what size you need. as far as glassing supplies, we get ours through surf source in fl. if you are interested, i may be able to work it out where you can come to our shop and glass your boards there as long as you pay for the materials. pm me if you would like to discuss.
I’m selling all my glassing supplies. Decided to send out for glassing for now on. I have enough resin RR Epoxy and cloth and supplies for about 7 boards. If you’re close to Brooklyn and up for a drive, I could save you shipping costs.
I have two Clark Foam 9-1 Y blanks. One is a three stick. I live in NJ so local pick up is a do-able option. Im re-doing my shop and could use the room. PM me if interested. You can also get glassing supplies from Fiberglas Supply. Last time I used them they were very reasonable.
I’m going to be ordering a box or two of Ice9 blanks soon if you want to get in on some. Shipping is about $120 a box, a box holds 8 blanks. Im in central NJ and we could split the costs to save us both money.
i bought a block of eps foam big enough for 8 blanks from a foam company in mullica hill. i can’t remember the name of the company, but i think it was $180 for the foam, which is like $22-23 per blank. i just then cut it in half and glued a piece of poplar in it for the stringer. you need to make a hot wire cutter tho.
as far as resin goes, i just order rr epoxy from foam ez and i bought 100 yds of glass in bulk online.
i think the name of the company is Architechtual foam fabricators, their website is http://www.affllc.com/Default.asp. i’ll call my friend to find out for sure if this was the company, but i think this is it.
they make like fake beams for houses, but if you get ahold of them they can get you a piece of eps any size that you want. when i went there, they were showing me their big hotwire cutter that was hooked up to a cad computer. they used it to cut my foam, it was pretty impressive.
“We can ship 2.00 lb. material. 282496. your cost will be 190.00 each plus freight to your location. If you have any question you can call me at 1-800-288-7663. Thanks Jim Carter”
I just spoke to Cellofoam and they turned me down, then I found their distributor where they get foam and they said $295 and I could pick up at Cellofoam and no shipping charge.
I just got a block 8ft x 1ft x 2ft up here in Mass that someone else told me about. It was only $76 for it. The foam has pretty large beads so I think next time I’ll ask if they have something smaller. Anyone know what the ideal bead size for blanks is? Even with the large beads I didn’t have a hard time shaping it. I know there’s some alphabetical sizing but I don’t know what is ideal.
I have a block of 2lb virgin EPS, about 6’x24"ishx9"ish. I could measure it if you need exact measurements. Its located in my warehouse in central NJ. Free to whoever wants it, only catch is you have to pick it up. I got it to shape a stringerless fish, but never got around to it and now its just collecting dust.
