Question for NJ shapers

I am about ready to glass #001 & #002. I know that I can get glassing supplies locally at the former Mahogany Co. in Mays Landing. Is that my best option?

Also, I am sure I will be ready to get my hands on a few more blanks soon. My first 2 attempts are a stripped re-shape from a garbage find and an older Clark blank I grabbed from ebay shortly before Clark closed. I know about Foam-EZ, but is anyone getting blanks from another source? local pickup or ship would work, thanks

hey rand

i work for a small board company outside of philly. we distribute teccel blanks and have quite a few on hand depending on what size you need. as far as glassing supplies, we get ours through surf source in fl. if you are interested, i may be able to work it out where you can come to our shop and glass your boards there as long as you pay for the materials. pm me if you would like to discuss.

Hey.

Fiberglasssupply.com has the best prices and have it all.

I’m selling all my glassing supplies. Decided to send out for glassing for now on. I have enough resin RR Epoxy and cloth and supplies for about 7 boards. If you’re close to Brooklyn and up for a drive, I could save you shipping costs.

PM me if you’re interested.

Rick.

I have two Clark Foam 9-1 Y blanks. One is a three stick. I live in NJ so local pick up is a do-able option. Im re-doing my shop and could use the room. PM me if interested. You can also get glassing supplies from Fiberglas Supply. Last time I used them they were very reasonable.

I’m going to be ordering a box or two of Ice9 blanks soon if you want to get in on some. Shipping is about $120 a box, a box holds 8 blanks. Im in central NJ and we could split the costs to save us both money.

I would be interested in your cloth if you are selling it. What do you have and how many yards? What are you looking to get for it? Thanks.

-Jon

How much for the 3 stick

Tom

Hey

I have 56 yards of 5.6 oz. X 30", E Glass, Plain Weave.

$3.50 / yard. Bulk rate from fiberglasssupply.

I can ship or you can pick up.

Just let me know

Later

Rick

i bought a block of eps foam big enough for 8 blanks from a foam company in mullica hill. i can’t remember the name of the company, but i think it was $180 for the foam, which is like $22-23 per blank. i just then cut it in half and glued a piece of poplar in it for the stringer. you need to make a hot wire cutter tho.

as far as resin goes, i just order rr epoxy from foam ez and i bought 100 yds of glass in bulk online.

hey surf4057

could you find the name of the foam company? i’m looking into making my own blanks.

or just how you found it. got a place in brooklyn i found but won’t do a small order only bulk.

thanks

rick.

i think the name of the company is Architechtual foam fabricators, their website is http://www.affllc.com/Default.asp. i’ll call my friend to find out for sure if this was the company, but i think this is it.

they make like fake beams for houses, but if you get ahold of them they can get you a piece of eps any size that you want. when i went there, they were showing me their big hotwire cutter that was hooked up to a cad computer. they used it to cut my foam, it was pretty impressive.

Ok thanks.

Pretty far for me though.

What was the size of the block you bought?

and what density was it?

I found a place near me, $295 for a 2lb virgin EPS block 7ft x 2ft x 3ft

rick.

I really want to get a big block of foam too.

I think cellofoam is in brooklyn

I asked about pricing of a block

“We can ship 2.00 lb. material. 282496. your cost will be 190.00 each plus freight to your location. If you have any question you can call me at 1-800-288-7663. Thanks Jim Carter”

Greenlight Surfboard Supply has everything if you want to go the eco-friendly surfboard route. We’re in Philly ~ easy to get to.

We stock Resin Research Epoxy and will start distributing Pro Box Fin Systems and Fluid Earth bio-plastic Fins in February.

Setting up to do some custom EPS blank cutting soon but can also supply EPS blocks to make your own.

It would be cool for someone to buy Rick’s remaining epoxy and glass and help him free up some shaping space. We’re here if you need anything else.

Hope to see you all at the Fish Fry in May!

Take it easy,

Brian

Hey Keen,

When did you get this quote?

I just spoke to Cellofoam and they turned me down, then I found their distributor where they get foam and they said $295 and I could pick up at Cellofoam and no shipping charge.

$190 would be so sick! Like $30 a blank.

Rick

I just got a block 8ft x 1ft x 2ft up here in Mass that someone else told me about. It was only $76 for it. The foam has pretty large beads so I think next time I’ll ask if they have something smaller. Anyone know what the ideal bead size for blanks is? Even with the large beads I didn’t have a hard time shaping it. I know there’s some alphabetical sizing but I don’t know what is ideal.

That email is about 15 days old. 01/10/08

on the main site I just licked the contact us link. I asked how much for the said foam.

If you do end up going through them keep me posted.

Hey Brian,

Do you have any Idea what sort of price you could work out for a big foam block? 2’X3’X8’ or so?

Thanks

Keenan

I have a block of 2lb virgin EPS, about 6’x24"ishx9"ish. I could measure it if you need exact measurements. Its located in my warehouse in central NJ. Free to whoever wants it, only catch is you have to pick it up. I got it to shape a stringerless fish, but never got around to it and now its just collecting dust.

Rachel, what was the place in mass?
