Question to Probox, FCS or any other side screw fin system manufacturer

This is a question to finbox manufacturers that lock the fins using screws from the side.

Why does the center box have it’s screws at the opposite sides of the box?

I find this very weird because it changes the angle of the fins in the box.

I notice this more with my home made fins because they sometimes have thinner tabs.

But even with the standard fins, a change in the fin angle can be noticed.

To counter balance the fin.

The rail plugs, when the screws contact the tabs will adjust the cant slightly. On the centers if they were both the same way would add  a slight amount of cant as well.

Ti saw a new board recently that made it into a retail store with both centers facing the same way. Every fin we put in registered between 2-4 degrees when cranked down. Leaning the same direction as the sidecwith the screws.

The opposite screwset is to provide pressure to both sides in an effort to maintain the 90 degree angle.

Ok that makes sense, thanks for the explanation.
