I was wondering… what is the best approach for first time glass on fins… should i put the fins on before i hot coat the board? Iam putting on a twinzer set up and the fins are glass on…whats the best angle for the twinzer setup? i know to use fin rope and can hot gun the fins down before placing the fin rop around it… how should i lay the fin rope on the fins to ensure no air bubbles and a tight fit… any suggestions would be great…
I have never done a twinzer before, so I dont know what kind of angle you should use, but as for glassing on fins, just find your angle and dip the base in hotcoat and tape your fins down so they dont move, after like 5 minutes they should stay firm. Then take the your football patches and lay them up on the fins and paint it so there are no air bubbles. After that, take your fin rope and cut saturate it in resin and then cut individual strips for each side of each fin, if you try and loop one piece around for both sides you will get ai bubbles. Other than that, just be careful when sanding everything down, but if you do go a tiny bit too far, just mix some chopped fiberglass and resin and fill it in, it worked wonderful on my last screwup.
Glass them on before you do the hotcoat. Mike
