I’ve been thinking hard into surfboard designs lately and I want to make a board that is really quick off the bottom turn. I would assume that the more tail rocker would be the key. Is there any other things that I could tune that would help with this affect? Any tips would be cool.
Hello again, Well I’m living in Osaka Japan and I usually surf beachbreaks that don’t get bigger than head high. The average size is about waist high. My surfboard is a 6’0 performance surfboard. I just figured if I could learn more about my board I could become a better surfer.
good advice so far…i would add that speed is critical to quick turns and wider smooth rockered boards are better (modern rocket fish comes to mind)…then add more outline curve i.e. a pronounced hip, around and just ahead of the front fins. Finally, use bigger front fins (FCS Rusty’s are great) and a medium to small center for more pivot…you can play with center for more or less drive, or more or less pivot etc etc…
Wider, shorter, very little V, big squash tail, WPoint back of center, flatten the tail rocker so you stand waaaay back all the time, thicken the tail so you can, big side fins, like 6": sides, no center fin, hard rails in back, but keep it soft forwards for catch free snaps.
Thin nose and WPoint, mass under your feet, flat across is quickest, flatten deck.
