Ramon -- What a fish!

Veeeerrrrryyyyyy Nice!!! The last board you posted (I think) was stuck in my mind for quite some time because it was so pleasing to the eye – the Cuban Comet. You follow up that with an exceptional fish. You are a talented bruddah Ramon. Nice work. Now, give some insight on the stick, starting with the color scheme (techs etc…) and the dims as well. Is that a 6 inch swallow? I’m guessing that you also made the fins? Share hermano!!! Magoo

Very Sweet Ramon!!! Was that a resin tinting job? thats my guess anyway. Very cool, nice board again. How many have you done so far? What blank did you use?

thanks Magoo, to answer your questions, i used 3 basic pigment colors; green, black, and white. the ‘field’ color on the bottom is emerald green. the accent colors are white, black, gray, and an opaque gray-green. the deck inlay is opaque light green. i was going for a ‘marbled’ look, but i think the lines on the bottom are a bit fat. i’m happier with the upper rail side, where the ‘veins’ remained reasonably narrow. even so, when you play with this stuff (colored lams) the resin itself does beautiful stuff that you can’t foresee when thinking “scheme”. the fins are laminated plywood, with a green tint hot coat. in addition to the dimensions posted on the board page, the rocker is about one and a half" in the tail, and an inch more at the nose. the wide point is at +4", and the swallow is 7" deep. i only hope my 47 year old reflexes are up to the task. the overall look and feel of the board is early to mid 70’s when we were all squirting around on short, flat , and (yes) chunky twins. BTW, i was waiting for you to help me glass it;-)>>> Veeeerrrrryyyyyy Nice!!!>>> The last board you posted (I think) was stuck in my mind for quite some > time because it was so pleasing to the eye – the Cuban Comet.>>> You follow up that with an exceptional fish. thanks Ed. if you’re stoked, i’m stoked except for the fins, all the color is in the lamination. this is my 6th board (in the close-tolerance blank era), 2nd board using tinted resin. the blank: clark 7_3 happy memorial day!>>> Very Sweet Ramon!!! Hey, Ramon, your Cuban Comet basically “caused” me to go out and shape an Egg (in progress). Your retro quiver is definately stylin’ and an inspiration. Keep it up… I wonder what’s your next project? Now, I just gotta grow out the hair and get me White-guy, Frampton hair 'do to match it up. May even start smoking da herb again, for medicinal purposes of course!
