re-Hoat coating hull on old log

I am sure I will catch some heat for this but I am re-hot coating the bottom (to the rail mid line) of an old Con log.

The bottom kept getting these delam cancer spots and I didnt want to trash the board or pay someone else to fix it up.

I cut out the delams and slapped in some fresh 10 oz “patches”. I have rough sanded the whole board (hand sanding - no power tools, we’re off the grid).

Now I am planning on taping off the rail line with some painters tape and in the dark mixing up some pigment and UV lam resin. Then im going to pour it and brush lengthwise and then across.

This is where i need some pointers - at this point im planning on applying the hot coat in the dark, letting it sit for 10 minutes in the dark, running it outside for 30 secs to let the wax rise and then back inside the garage for 10 minutes then outside again to finish curing. We get full hot sun on the regs. This will be done in a dark garage with a hot, sunny environment outside the door. It is 9’11 - how much UV lam resin should i pour? I can either buy in gallon or pint quantities.

If someone will please tell me if they think that’ll work.

Mahalo,

Why lam resin?  Use sanding resin, and depending on the amount of pigment you add (I assume a good quantity for a cover up), you will need to add catalyst for it to kick. So, if you are adding catalyst to kick it, I wouldn’t even use UV resin.

I thought Lam was what I needed to use for this type of job. Sanding resin is what is used for a hot coat? How much should I use? How much catalyst should I use? Yes, I was going to add a good quantity for a cover up. Is using sanding resin + reg old mekp an easier way of going about this type of thing?

Thank you so much,
