I’ve seen a few here on Oahu. I think they were $20 each.
I heard of an adapter made by lokbox fin system, that works with FCS fins. I think you get them from rainbow fin company in santa cruz.
FCS? Red-X? Why bother with these hideous renditions of fin systems when you could be using Future Fins or glass ins? I am not opinionated am I?
Well then,Lets here your “opinion” on why ones better than the other.
I have seen first hand the mechanical strength issues Future Fins System has in performance shortboards. The box under glass is so stiff that it directs stress concentration to the forward edge of the side fin boxes. Creasing of the board inevitably occurs. Also has anyone whilst surfing accidently fallen on their futures equipped board hoping the fins would effortlessly snap out thereby saving the board from serious damage? NO, because you will cause serious damage. Stick to FCS, the simplest and the best (in my opinion).
Im going to disagree here. I dont think that FCS is a very good system. At least not compared to whats available in the surfing industry today i.e. RedX, Future, 4way fins, etc. All of the newer fin systems offer a significant advantage in strength at the base and all are FAR more robustly built overall with better materials than FCS. Add to that most of the othe system offer at least some degree of adjustment which is a big plus when your trying to dial in a board. Yes FCS will snap but at the sacrafice of overall stiffness at the base and a performance disadvantage (some will argue this point). The ONLY things FCS has going for it is availability and a wide selection of templates.
Agree on all counts!
