I just wondered if you Americans have trouble playing dvds from other countries , as I read elsewhere that some copies of ‘Crystal Voyager’ wouldn’t play in the states ??
I assumed [perhaps wrongly] that dvd systems were UNIVERSAL. I knew your video stuff was different , but hoped that playing dvds there would be no hassle.
Anyone know for sure ?
any help / feedback / experience of this happening to you appreciated [as well as any solution[s] too , hopefully!]
yeah chip, we couldn’t play it here. the americas’ dvd players are region 1, and we would need all region dvd players. they are out there, i have no idea the cost of them.
Soulstice, i really don’t know because i play most of the DVDs on the PC (my girl and her friends own the TV, DVD player, VCR and the living room, you know how this works…), but i think that almost every DVD player con play Pal DVDs on an NTSC TV, at least here it works in the other way.
Skip, thanks, actualy i judged more than 10 ASP contest, but this one was the first of this season… we’ll see. This year they added “flow” and “variety of repertorie” to the criteria, something that sounds really nice to me…
Most DVD players are pretty easy to make region free and googling for hack and make and model will in most cases lead you to the hack. PC DVD drives can only be changed 5 times and as far as I know can’t he made region free
