Here in Barcelona, we can find pigments and tools (planner, sander…) easily, gassing materials quite expensive (30 € 5 liters of polyester) but for a foam we’ve got to order them in Bilbao (500 Km and quite expensive) or in France.
But no problem… it’s usual to go to Bilbao (or other parts in the north coast) to surf for a weekend. Tomorrow is hollyday here and i’ll leave work at 13:00 to go to the north coast … unfortunatelly forecast is very bad !!!
I can get blanks(7f$ 6ft5 kneelo), glass-on fins, fibreglass (aaround 6$m (bloody company won’t tell me what once though!) Resin and Catalyst (4L $55) Fin Soloutions set (35$) (once again they wont tell me if it comes with any instalation jigs) 10" fin boxes ($10) etc. from “SOUTH coast foam” located on the goldy…?!
Here in France, we are lucky to have at least two suppliers in the same place, Hossegor. Seabase is the local importer for Clark Foam blanks and tools (planers), Silmar resin, Hexcel and Aerialite glass cloth, FU boxes and fins, Futures Fins, and plenty of other things including special tools, sanding pads, masking tape, paint, pigments, tints, whatever…
Surfoam is a local alternative for blanks, home-made by famous “RORO”. Not as much choice as Clark, of course (only 7 molds from 6’4" to 9’5") but growing. Surfoam also carries “Cray Valley” resin, fiberglass cloth, some tools, Fins Solution system, Maish fins, FCS and other things, too.
For those of us living around Biarritz, a short 1/2 hour drive to Hossegor will fullfill our needs…
As you probably know by now, Hossegor also has decent waves, sometimes…
