A recent post about dust/vac systems in shaping bays made me wonder if anyone has pondered a use for the foam dust. Perhaps I should have checked the archives first, as this may already be a beat up subject, but has anyone found a use for it? Seems it would be cool to recycle it somehow into something useful. Instead of particle board or MDF perhaps “particle foam” boards?
I don’t know if you can get that tech… without adding a lot of weight. But I’d assume that it would make a decent substitute for Cabosil in repairs.
Foam dust makes for a great medium for de-waxing your boards. A little sunshine, a scraper for the big stuff then handfuls of foam dust to wipe the rest off. Cornmeal works too.
