Reinforcing Wood with acrylic resin?

Thanks Stew, that was, what I wanted to hear!  Actually I forgot that you are in knife making and I did not ask you directly. If you think it would work, it justifies the expenses necessary to test the stuff. So I need to think about an easy working exsiccator, maybe an acrylic glass tube, unless the resin does not harm it… Clear acrylic makes it easy to observe the bubbling… 50cm tube, 3cm diameter inside would be enough for a fin box up to 50 cm long…

The FinBox T-Nut Router arrived today

Preroute a slot and the entry zone, then route along each side of the slot at the right depth…, wood ready, then the acrylic plastification process and as a result a wooden finbox.

Now I need to think about the exsiccator…

The resin needs 6 weeks at about 30 degrees (celsius) it looks possible to heatdry the wood, letting it cool down to 40 degrees and then still warm adding resin and starting the vaccuum. After some hours it needs to be heated up to 90 degrees for about 90 min.

We will see if it works; an interesting project of his own.
