Removing and replacing Skil 100 front shoe

How do you remove the Skil 100 front shoe?
I know you have to remove or unscrew/back off the set screw located at the base of the front shoe.

Does one also have to remove the cutter drum?
I know there exists a comprehensive how to restore or dissasembly of the Skil written by the Skil 100 guru Pete C., but I can’t seem to find the post.

I apologize in advance if this has already been answered. I searched the forum and could not find the answer.

I bought an aftermarket shoe, but I can’t seem to remove the old cracked shoe. I removed the set screw, but when i slide the show forward, it won’t slide out.

If I slide it towards the back of the planer, it looks like I have to remove the cutter drum, not sure.

Been years since I had one apart. If I remember correctly you are right. Cutter head has to come out. While you are at it you may want to remove the depth index. Put in a washer the same thickness as the index. “On the fly” adjustment and less likely to clog with foam and shavings. Can be blown out easily with air.

You have to pull the cutter head out and slide it backwards
