Removing deck GRIP: help needed.

Hola,

I’m trying to restore my old ZIPS longboard and the first trouble I’m in is about the deck grip.

I’ve used a razorblade to peel it off, trying to leave nothing stuck over the glass. But I’ve failed. Some thin bits of EVA remain glued to the deck.

I’ve try to sand them away but the heat generated when sanding just melted the EVA and spreaded it, gluing it harder and thinner.

Any advice???

I’ve used this product called GOOF-OFF which melts the glue some then use the razor blade with it. Maybe carefully applied Acetone or Alcohal with the razor blade. You need to loosen up that glue and still use the razor blade.

“Goof Off”…

“Orangle Clean”…

“Goop”…

Carburetor cleaner doesn’t do anything bad to cured resin.

I used a razor blade, 3 hours and a bunch of charcoal lighter fluid to get one of mine off. It was so badly deteriorated it was falling apart in my hands.
