It`s not possible for thick round railed inflatable rectangle to ride waves like a surfboard. Modern board design backs up this fact. Air mats became obsolete after Boogies were invented back in the 1970s. Sorry to “burst your bubbles” guys!

Page loads quickly here…you might need a bigger pipe. Of course mats don’t ride like surfboards, but they aren’t obsolete. Dale brings a whole lot of watercraft design expertise to his constructions, and uses new materials. It’s incorrect to assume that they’re just bulbous rectangles, or even like any other surf mats you’ve seen. They’re really different…enigmatic, no pun intended. But if you’re opposed to them, just stick with what you know and like–that’s a no-brainer.
George Greenough is an expert rider of air mats. Ive heard why they only seem to work for him because hes a freak-genius, not because of the mats?

4th gear flyers are no longer available so i bought myself one of Dale’s mats, and all i can say is it sure is fun, but more importantly, it gets you out in the water on days that you wouldn’t consider riding a board…it’s just another option and a mighty fun one at that.by the way, if anyone thinks it’s a toy for pussies i invite you to try and kick one out though 5-6’ consistent, windswell shorebreak…
Damn! Why didn’t you let me know sooner Nick? I bought one of Dale’s mats almost 2 years ago, in fact it’s outlasted 2 polyester surfboards. I ride it regularly, it’s a permanent part of my quiver. I’ll be the first to admit that it is one of the most difficult surfcraft to ride that I’ve ever owned. Two years later I feel like I’ve just barely begun to understand what it’s all about, what I do know is that it makes my face hurt from smiling when I ride it. Wish you had been around here on Sway’s a couple of years ago to share your expertise on mats, I might not have bought one. You’re too late kook! Tom S. Yes I have made a mistake, I wish u had informed us all sooner. I have many mats and six; yes 6 of Dales I wish I could afford to pay him what they are really worth, based on performance. Try twice what he charges. The page loads fine here in Australia.
