Resin bead for hard rail?

I want to lay down a resin bead so I can sand in a very hard rail near the tail. I just hot coated (I love hot coating:)) and was thinking about waiting until the gloss to put the resin bead down. Should I sand and do the rail bead in sanding resin rather than doing it in gloss? Does it really make a difference?

Thanks!

Do it on both so you can build it up slowly. You can always remove what you dont want at the end.

We always put the resin/glass bead on just after sanding the hotcoat, then wait for cure and sand the bead down to exactly how you want it to be finished!

Then gloss coat and polish, voile’, you are done.

Howzit gunkie, I always build up the rail in the tail as I'm laying down a sweet coat on the bottom then hotcoat it. Aloha,Kokua

Thanks guys! Apparently there are many ways of doing this simple procedure. Since I’m about to begin sanding the hot coat this evening, I’ll just follow up with a tape dam and more sanding resin after the sanding of the hot coat is finished.

It’s my first board since 1985. I should probably post an image or two. Thanks again!
