Hi guys, I am a long time lurker. I love this forum I posted a few times when I shaped my first board 2 years ago but forgot my login so I have a new name. Well i have glassed about 10 boards now and don’t work at the same shop anymore so I don’t have my little resin measuring cups That I always used since we usually did short boards. I was wondering if you guys had a equation on how much resin to use for the size of a board. On my way up to tofino vancouver island to shape and surf for the rest of the year. Pray I don’t get eaten by a bear!
hi Girvin
bottom lamination, 6’0’’ - 6’2’’ normal width 18.5’’ i’d go with
300grams of resin ( i use a scale) and see how it goes from
there if you need more then add some more and your next
board remember how much you need.
top lamination i use double the amoount of the bottom.
the top amounts are for 4oz bottom and 4oz+4oz on top.
hope this helps!
Avi
…you need 750 grs (25oz) or so of polyester resin to do that bottom in a proper way…
Thanks avi thats kinda what i have been doing I just was wondering how the guys that are doing production glassing go from a 6’0 to a 8 ft FB I just don’t want to use to little but I will be trying to do some glassing in canada so I want to be as efficiant as possible
Reverb is grs grams? b/c 750 seems like a lot
Kitchen measuring cups bought at target or thrift store have been doing me a great job for volume needed approximation and epoxy ratio
