Hey I'm new to repairing my own surf equipment & I used resin that wasnt clear (home depot stuff, dryed yellow). It was a broken off nose repair that needed a lot of coats so i need a few more to finish. My question is can I grind out or sand out some of the yellow resin then reglass using clear resin & have a ok looking product?Your imput is thankful
Ok…file this under been there and done that. I ran into the same issue years ago. The resin sold at the Depot does not contain a UV inhibitor. This is added to the resin used in surfboards to keep it clear. The lam resin I use is s249a. Unless you are adding pigment to the “new” resin it will show through. Post a pic if you can and the elders of sways will assist you (as they have ME!)
