I had a similar experience to Bill’s above… but I made contact.
My first year at MP Richard Deese and I shaped in side by side bays separated by a studded wall. We had a special chip ejector for our Skill planers that we shared… only used it for the rough milling stuff so we would pass it back and forth while working.
It was my turn to pass the thing to Richard, being in a rush and while the planer head was still turning I went to pull the ejector off. In doing so I pushed the planer into the top of my thigh. My pants and right leg stopped the spinning planer head about 3 inches from the family jewels. I suffered a series of short cuts in my leg about 2 inches long, no stitches though… lucky that. The doctor gave me a tetanus shot and sent me on my way.
My former partner, Blinky, saw the incident from across the room. He told me later he almost fainted thinking I’d lost me love life for sure.
