Resin Questions

My 5 gallon resin can’s lid is stuck. It’s never coming off because the whole thing is turning. I poked a hole in it to get some resin and taped over the hole. What can I use to store the resin (suncure)in? I got a couple of new 1 gallon metal paint cans that have some kind of gray coating inside. Will it be ok in those? Could I put it in one of the white plastic 5 gal paint buckets with the spout? Should I pre mix a gallon of sanding resin and store it or is it better to mix as I use it? As always, THANKS!

you can use an empty acetone can. make sure you don’t use anything that light can get through for ANY type of polystyrene type resin as they will eventually kick inside the container.

Hey Slim. I like to use the 1 gallon metal paint cans (mine are grey inside and have been stable). I pour out the resin into 1 gallon can(s), pour in the Suncure powder (I mix my own). I toss the original lid and buy a paint can lid that has a popup plastic spout, just like the ones on the 5 gallon resin pails. This has worked well for me for mixing my own UV cure lam resin, it’s virtually light tight inside a cabinet and it’s easy to shake up for mixing the UV additive also handy with a pour spout. If you are careful you can cycle that same can and lid for 5 gallons or so of resin. Works well if you want to break that 5 gallon can down into sanding/gloss resin too. Tom S.
