Resin Research Purple Resin

So, my new shop isn’t heated and I made the mistake of leaving a couple gallons of epoxy resin in it overnight, the temp dropped well below 40.  I went there this morning expecting to find a gelled up mess that I would have to heat in small batches to use or just junk it.  To my surprise, the new purple resin research epoxy hadn’t changed and it was still a liquid.   I’ve used several different epoxies in the past and they all thickened to a solid when it got cold, but the new stuff  looks the same.   I don’t know what changes they made, but I’m really stoked that new stuff doesn’t have the issues with the cold that has cost me so much $ in wasted product in the past.  I brought what I had left home and its nice and warm.  But it’s supposed to get really cold tonight and I’m going to leave a small amount of epoxy in the shop to see what happens.  Just passing on a happy story and reccommending a great product to all you cold weather board builders.

Good on you for passing on the tip Hofnar. That’s a useful thing to know (and maybe something to ask Greg Loehr about when he’s in the Shaper’s Hot Seat here soon).

Cheers!

My RR got a solid chunk in it last winter.  I don’t know what color it is. Blue or purple. I just warmed it up in the sun until the solid was gone and used it with no problem. Mike
