Resin swirls

Hi all, Gonna do a blue resin swirl. This will be my first one. I have the board masked off with three layers of tape at the lap line so I’ll have a nice edge to cut along after the resin jells. I plan to use blue pigment mixed so it will be pretty bright and go with around 1 part blue resin to 3 parts clear resin. Catalyze separate, dump the blue into the clear, give a quick swirl and then go for it on the board. Does this sound about right? Am I missing anything? I am hoping that it will turn out transparent and swirly. Thanks all and have a great day, Scott.

Blue is a tough color, you may want to add white to the other batch instead of clear.I tried just blue one time and the results were not that great.Just a thought…have fun…its all in fun anyway right? R. Brucker

I’m not a glasser, but I have seen some real nice swirls. I would think that you will need two people one on each side of the board, holding up the lap. Pour on the clear first, making your swirls, allowing it to soak into the glass. Then pour on the blue. The clear will have gotten into the foam and will not be covered by the blue. Just my thoughts. Let us know how it works out.

Thanks guys, keep the info comming  Not sure how i’m gonna do it now, but it’s all in the name of fun and a one of a kind piece of resin art. The board is a stumpy little Phish style thing and it just begs for an amature looking swirl job. Cheers, Scott.
