Is it designed for surfboards? Designed for surfboards means: Will it cure in a thin film? Will it set up before draining out on rails? Color? Generally speaking, Iso’s are stronger than ortho’s and cost a little higher. Color is an issue if it wasn’t designed for surfboards, they are usually amber. Seabase caters to surfboard makers in your area. His web site is www.clarkfoam.com.

His web site is > www.clarkfoam.com. when i lived in the uk i used seabase but now in ireland it costs three times as much with shipping! i think it is from norpol but is a type of boat resin. i tried the resin today it is purple in colour, but not as thick as my surfboard resin it dried thru the glass quite nicely and was still as white as surfboard resin. tried it then as a hot coat, but it was very thin. any suggestion on thickening it up?

Norpol is a brand name for Reichhold. Resin makers literally have thousands of formulations based off indivudual needs. Odds are Reichhold makes a similar product with a higher viscosity. You can ask your supplier. Surfboard resins are usually 450 cps. The only thing I could think of is us a UV initiator instead of MEKP and cool the resin down to around 60 F. That might work. If you do this using MEKP it will really slow down the gel time. Good Luck, Sluggo
