respect

i visited the shaping bay of a shaper this week. it has given me even more respect for these craftsman. from the tools to the phyicalness of the shaping to the thinking that goes into custom shapes to the laminators and sanders and the really whole process – quite fascinating actually. it was refreshing to hear him speak about the joy he gets from surfing, from surfing with his competition, from the respect he has for them as shapers and craftsman, from his trade. to boot the guy shapes one hell of a surfboard!
