rice paper help

sorry for re doing a tired topic. I did search the archives but all old info.

I’ve got an Epson C-66 printer. I can no longer find the brand of paper that came in 8X11 sheets and printed without jamming.

I’ve tried two brands lately that both jammed even when i used a carriage sheet.

Anyone have any leads…the stuff that worked for me come from an art supply store in philadelphia and was slightly heavier than the stuff that keeps jamming.

Any tips GREATLY appreciated.

I don’t no what’s the stuff you were using , but I use the regular thin rice paper.

the trick is to cut it just a bit smaller than an A4 sheet ( say… 4 mm from each side ) and taping the edges to a regular A4 printing paper.

the end product is a rice paper backed up by a regular A4 . it does not jam and does not bleed.

goooood luckkk

hi mike,

i have been using a roll of rice paper that i got from the ‘michaels’ craft store. its heavier than the rice paper that we have our labels logo screened on, but i use it in my printer for small batch specialty lams. you can find it in the section with the caligraphy supplies. its a roll wrapped in white paper with japanese writing on the label. the only hassle is that you have to cut it to length and i usually stack some books on top of if for a day or so to flatten the sheets out.

clean the printer once in a while

Here’s my tip.

I take spray adhesive and spray a super lite coating on a sheet of regular printer paper and wait. Wait until the glue is almost dry and very little tack is left.

Empty the printer of all paper and hit print. You will get the out of paper error message but as soon as you stick something in, it will start right up.

After you get the error message, lightly lay the rice paper on the sprayed standard printer paper. Make sure no wrinkles.

IMMEDIATELY stick it in the printer. Since you have the error message going, the printer will kick on right away.

The reason speed is needed is that if done correctly, you have about 30 seconds where the rice paper won’t really bond with the printer paper, and when the printer spits it out peel it off.

Its all in the timing.
