I guess you’re planning to spend some serious dough. Latex printers start around $20,000 for a 42".

You might want to talk to this guy about what you’re trying to attempt. According to the article, he’s in your town.

i deciding to not use laytex, my printer is around 6k and does 44" im at the moment trying to find rice paper in rolls 30" plus wide and the type of fabrics that work well as well. I have seen his art verry nice love his work. im  looking at china atm still searchin  really still could use advice on fabrics for epoxy as it will be for paddle boards. ty for any and all advice

I have a 44" HP wide format printer.

I use rice paper from JAPAN. The quality is the best I’ve found. The rolls are 36" and there is about 100 feet per roll. Just find a Japaneese paper supplier were you live. We have lots of them in LA and SF here on the West Coast.

You want the paper to be transparent after Lamination and not discolor. Make sure you find a thickness that works with your printer. Too thin and you will have a hard time to feed it to the printer feed.

For cloth you can use a Hybrd 1 oz cloth that works real nice. Use it under a heavier cloth to protect your artwork against sand throughs.

Good luck!

Kind regards,

surfding

hey surfding i got the same printer hehe what  beast lol. i have been online all night trying to find rice paper in that width im on east coast so no luck in the area…any way you would share the suplier and rice paper type info in a pm?  i was having some troubble here and there with the thinner rice paper on loading had to set it to transparrent. and i only know of the silky heavy at 25" width cant find wider…

Check your pm

If you like to experiment, Ink Aid is an inkjet friendly coating that you can apply to just about any substrate that you can feed through an inkjet printer.

I’m guessing you guys are using HP z series printers. My wife has a z3100 44". It’s a bitch to feed really thin rice paper through it without using some kind of a backing sheet.

Not a problem on the ancient Epson 7600 that I use at work.

im using the 44" hp designjet photo ps and it is a tank i might try to roll over some cars later today :stuck_out_tongue:
